AWAAZ
EK BEHTAR KAL KE LIYE
Tolani Institute of Management Studies, Adipur organized for the 3rd consecutive year a social awareness program called AWAAZ on 30th March, 2008, Sunday, at Prabhudarshan Auditorium, Adipur. Awaaz gives the students a platform to creatively present their perspectives on various social issues. Thus it serves the dual purpose of creating socially conscious and sensitive corporates of future and communicates the sensitivity of these issues in the society at large. In the past 2 years various social issues raised in AWAAZ include female feotecide, child labour, global warming, etc.
This year 4 documentaries were shown and its details are as below:
1. ‘SAVE WATER’ by Alpesh Kotadiya and Krishnaprem Thakker
2. ‘ANIMAL KILLING’ by Nehal Somani
3. ‘UNDERWORLD & VIOLENCE’ by Sagar Sawant
4. ‘ORPHANS’ by Jaydeep Ajudiya
Also 2 skits were presented and their details are as below:
1. ‘BRAIN DRAIN’ Actors: Himanshu Bosamiya, Bimal Girgalani, Sagar Sawant, Hema Taglani, Nehal Somani and Pratik Mehta. Narrated by Nikunj Damani
2. ‘ENCOURAGING YOUTH TO JOIN ARMY’ Directed by Prof N.T.Taglani, Actors: Hema Taglani, Arjunsinh Zala, Azhar Baig, Bimal Girgalani, Nitin Naik, Himanshu Bosmia, Amit Sharma and Pratik Mehta. Narrated by Govind Najkani
The comparers of the program were Nisha Rajwani and Rachna Bhatt. The lighting of the lamp was done by Smt Nirmala Gajwani, Chairperson, SRC, Didi Krishna Bhambhani, Trustee, Gandhidham Maitri Mandal, Mrs Anjana Hazari, President, Gandhidham Collegiate Board (GCB), Mr Bullu Hazari, Trustee, GCB, Mr H.K.Kripalani, Administrator, GCB, and Mr. A.J. Bhambahni, Executive Director, TIMS.
Mr. A.J.Bhambhani, Executive Director, TIMS welcomed the august gathering emphasizing the need for such social awareness and contributions of the people to prevent social menaces making the society a better place to live in. The Vote of Thanks was presented by Prof Mamta Keswani, Faculty, TIMS.
The event co-ordinators for AWAAZ were Prof Sampada Kapse and Prof Mamta Keswani. However, every faculty and staff member of TIMS contributed meaningfully to make this programme the most successful and memorable one. Prof Sandip Trada was the Stage co-ordinator. Dr. Kinjal Ahir was the Media in-charge & Alumni relation in-charge. Prof Suresh Lalwani was the Invitation in-charge. The programme was a success by the kind co-operation of Prof Tejash Pujara, Prof P.S. Ganguly and Mr. Mohan Malkani, Administration Officer. Last but not the least, the ‘anytime any help’ provided by the non-teaching staff cannot go without a mention. The program was organized by Sem. II students.
The instant appreciation and compliments from the learned audience boosted the morale of the organizers and provided a great motivation to the students, who have put in their sincere efforts to prepare the documentaries and skits.
CULFEST 2007
“CULTURE” is a learning that people inherit in them over the years and “FESTIVAL” is the medium through which one expresses or presents his or her culture. When both these words are joined, it becomes “CULFEST”, the perfect time when talent meets opportunity and excitement meets celebration. This Culfest 2007 charmingly spread the sunshine of love, unity & enthusiasm in the hearts & minds of every member of the TIMS family.
This Culfest, the students and the faculty were divided into groups of five Pandavas The Yudhisthir, Bhim, Arjun, Nakul and Sahdev, all of them competing against each other in the field of cultural, academic and sports events.
The festival was from 24th December to 29th December, 2007. Exciting days like Bappi Day, Baby's Day Out, Rangeela Day and Hawai Day were observed during this whole season. The sports & games included Chess, Table Tennis, Cricket, Volleyball, 100mt Race, 200mt Race, Relay Race and Slow Biking; while the cultural programs comprised of Rangoli making, Singing and Dance competitions. Programs such as Kahani Mein Twist, Ad-Mad Show and Fast n Furious really filled the atmosphere with echoes of laughter and excitement. Academic events like Group Discussion, Debate, B-Quiz and 2- Min Manager were also scheduled therein. On 29th December, a FOOD FESTIVAL was also organized, wherein the breakfast and lunch was prepared and brought by the students of first year.
O n e o f t h e m o s t b e a u t i f u l components of this festival was “the Antakshri”, in which all the staff & faculty members of the TIMS family had participated. Everybdoy - the students, the staff and the faculty members enjoyed it to the maximum.
A Grand Eve was organized on the final day of the Culfest which started at 5 pm on that day. This sensational evening was brightened up by the exceptional singing, dancing and other performances of the TIMS students.
TIMS CULFEST 2007 was won by the Yudhisthir group which did remarkably well in most of the events. It was closely followed by Sahdev at the second place & Arjuna group at the third position.
For management students, apart from academic intelligence, social intelligence, moral intelligence and emotional intelligence are also equally important. Thus, the Institute, through its various activities, aims to deliver better quality students to the corporate world by adding value to them in form of conducting various activities as follows:

Four students of Sem- III, Ms.Vanita Motiani, Ms.Jyoti Ramchandani, Ms. Renu Balwani & Mr. Pratik K. Mehta participated in Simulation Business Game conducted by AIMA at Sinhgad Institute of Business Administration and st nd Research (SIBAR), Pune on 21 & 22 August 2007.
Ms. Abha Kaliya (Sem-III) secured 1st position in Akhil Kachchh college ompetition organized by ARYA SAMAJ, th Gandhidham on 4 August 2007.She spoke against the topic “ Should SEZ be banned?”
Two Teams of students from TIMS participated in “PRAGYA”-National Summer Project competition organized st by Prestige Institute of Management & Research, Indore on 21 September 2007.

TIMS' STUDENTS' CLUB
TIMS Students' Club carries out of various curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities throughout the year. The Club is divided into three types of activities as:
- Academic Activities like B-Quiz, Book Reviews, Movie Reviews, Personality development, improving communication skills by various workshops and competitions like Extempore, Elocution, Debate and Group Discussion on various contemporary issues.
- Cultural Activities like Annual Day Celebrations, Culfest, Food-fest, Talent evenings, etc.
- Networking Activities like alumni meet, guest lectures by industry experts, conferences, symposiums, etc.
“AWAAZ Ek Behatar Kal ke Liye”
A regular feature of TIMS Social Awareness Event th “AWAAZ” was organized this year on 25 March 2007, with the objective to raise voice against the evils prevalent in the society. Mr. M. Mandal, Vice President (Projects), Man Industries (I) Ltd. was the chief guest for the event. Documentaries and skits, on various issues such as Global w a r m i n g , Child labor, F e m a l e feticide, Drug addiction, Old age homes, Dowry and other social and industrial issues were presented. The event received a wonderful response with the audience taking a pledge to wipe off these evils from the society.

“KSHITIJ: Boundless Creativity” - MANAGEMENT DAY CELEBRATIONS
st In light of 21 February being declared as Management Day by AIMA, “KSHITIJ BOUNDLESS CREATIVITY” an event to foster creativity was organized. The different competitions organized on this day are like were :

- Management Poster Making Contest for B-School Students & Executives
- Business Quiz Contest for B-School Students
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Every year, Industrial Visits and Study Tours are organized for students to make them understand the working of various industrial units. This year Industrial Visit was organized for students at Welspun India Ltd. and at Welspun Gujarat Stahl st Rohren Ltd. on 21st March 2007.
ALUMNI MEET
The Alumni Meet 2007 was held on 5th May 2007 wherein Mr. Anand Kinjewadekar, VP and Branch Manager, HSBC Ltd., Vadodara delivered a talk on “Opportunities in the Banking Sector for PGDBM students.” The Alumni then shared their industry experiences and also expressed their expectations from the Institute.
“RANG DE BASANTI Spread your message with colors and craft”
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, to spread the message - “Today's youth is tomorrow's th future”, an art and crafts competition was organized jointly with Sri Ramakrishna Seva Kendra, Adipur, on 12th January, 2007 “NATIONAL YOUTH DAY”. The paintings contributed by school students were on themes related to social issues concerning the youth. An exhibition of there paintings was also organized on same day declaring the best three paintings as prize winners.
CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION : “Celebration with smiles and tears”
The students celebrated Children's Day on 14-11-2006 in a different manner by collecting funds from within themselves to purchase toys, sports equipments, books, crayons and stationery for distribution. They spend the whole day with the underprivileged, mentally handicapped children of a local NGO 'UPAASNA'- an institute for mentally handicapped children run by Hari Aasro Trust, Adipur working for the cause. By this gratuitous act, they learnt the importance of Voluntary Acts and Services.
CONVOCATION EVE
th The Convocation Eve was organized to bid farewell to the graduating second year students of batch 2005-2007on 4 May 2007 wherein various games and entertainment items were presented by the students. The hostelites played a slide-show wherein they recalled the happy memories of their stay at TIMS.

CONVOCATION 2007
TIMS celebrated its 11th Convocation on 5th May 2007, with lots of enthusiasm and applauds, wherein 52 students were awarded diplomas for successful completion of their PGDBM program by the Chief Guest, Mr. Dhananjay Joshi, President, Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India, Kolkatta. Other distinguished dignitaries on the Dias included Guest of Honor Mr. A. Janardhan Rao, Chairman, Kandla Port Trust, Gandhidham and Mr. Anand Kinjwadekar, Vice President and Branch Manager, HSBC Bank Ltd., Vadodara.
Finally, with huge applause, meritorious students were felicitated as follows :
- Gold Medal to Ms. Bhavna Paryani, for securing first position in PGDBM program.
- Silver Medal to Ms. Sheena Easow for securing second position in PGDBM Program.
- Certificate of Merit to Ms. Manisha Vaid for securing third position in PGDBM Program.
