TiE as a center for NSTSE:

TIE has been registered as a center for NSTSE- National Level Science Talent Search Examination from this year onwards .This examination is conducted by UNIFIED COUNCIL-Hyderabad and targeted for students from Std. III to Std. XII. 39 students from different schools will appear for this exam on 28th January 2007. It’s a National Maths and Science Olympiad.

TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR MANAGEMENT ENTRANCE TEST (MAT, CAT, G-CET)

One day training program on TAXATION

A one day training program was conducted on Sunday 28th January, 2007 at TIMS Auditorium covering following topics.

• Implications of VAT for the Industries in Kachchh and in General

• Fringe benefit tax and TDS under the Income Tax Act- An Overview.

The speakers for the workshop were Mr.Vidyut Buch ,Sales Tax Consultant, Mr.Bharat Oza, Chartered Accountant, and Mr. Bhavik Dholakia, Chartered Accountant .The topics covered under VAT were- Practical implementation of VAT to the industries and its function, Duties to be discharged by industries for implementation of VAT, Right to claim refund/input tax credit and remission of tax, Practical aspects for movement of goods and hiring of equipments, Implementation of Works contract and Job works. The topics covered under FBT and TDS included – An Overview of FBT & TDS under Income Tax Act, Practical implication of FBT for employers and employees both. Participants included Manufacturers, Traders, Hirers, Works Contractors , Companies of SEZ and others liable to pay VAT, Income Tax , FBT.

‘CALIBER’ - The Speaker of Kutch 2007 Competition

Tolani Institute for Excellence (TIE) organized an extempore competition called ‘Caliber’-The Speaker of Kutch 2007 Contest on 24th February, 2007 at Kutch level for encouraging talent and public speaking traits of school going children at TIMS Auditorium, Adipur. The competition was conducted at two levels Level 1- Std VIII, IX, X and Level 2- Std XI, XII. Many schools from Adipur and Gandhidham participated in the competition. The competition was divided into two parts- the semi final round and the final round. Six students from each level were selected from the semi-final round to come to the final round... Saransh Joshi (Xth Std) and Linsa Babykutty ( IXth Std), both from St.Xavier’s High School, Adipur won the First and Second Price respectively from Level 2.

One Day Awareness Training Programme on – Occupational Health & Safety (OHSAS)

A one day awareness training program course on Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS ) was organized by TIE in association with Bureau Veritas on Thursday,19th April, 2007 at TIMS Auditorium, Adipur. Mr. Maharshi Badheka, Area Manager Bureau Veritas- Ahmedabad was the speaker for workshop. The issues of the workshop included – Introduction to BS 8800, OHSAS 18001 and Safety cert, Cost of ignoring Health & Safety, Similarities with OHSAS 18001, Safety test ISO 14001 & ISO 9000, Health and Safety Management issues. Participants were from different industries of Kutch region. After attending the workshop the participants appreciated the importance of controlling Health and Safety in all types of business activities. They were also able to have a basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.

Summer workshop for students (April-May 2007)

Tolani Institute for Excellence which is a pioneer in the field of providing training programmes for various competitive examinations had conducted Summer Workshop for school students this vacation. The workshop was conducted for students above 13 yrs of age. The contents of the workshop included Effective Public Speaking, Personality Development and Perfect English. Students gained a wide knowledge on various topics like preparation of speech, using body language, manners and etiquettes, event management, overcoming stage fear, accent development, situational/functional English and lot more. Ms.Veena Israni, Mr.Manoj Chhaya and Mr.Suresh Lalwani were the faculties of the workshop. A valedictory function was arranged on Sunday, 3rd June 2007 for the students where parents and family members were also invited to see the performance of their children. Some students shared their experience of the workshop too. The programme was very much appreciated by the parents and others present at the function.

Workshop By SWAMI NIKHILESHWARANANDA, Shri Ramakrishna Mission, Vadodara.

Swami Nikhileshwaranandaji was invited to conduct workshop on two topics

● Science and Art of becoming a better teacher

● Management and Leadership for the new millennium.

The programme was conducted on 19th & 20th of July 2007. The workshop for teachers covered various topics like - teachers as torch bearers of change, the art of practicing the success formula, Swami Vivekananda’s call –‘Be and Make’ etc. Swamiji gave the examples of some well known teachers like Sister Nivedita, Master Mahasaya etc. Teachers of Vidya Mandir Campus and also various schools participants. The workshop on management and leadership focused on topics like –urgent need of paradigm shift in management and leadership, the fourth wave of Management- Holistic Management, Increasing importance of Ethical Management, Glaring examples of Trusteeship Management, Glaring examples of Servant Leadership, Spiritual Intelligence –the ultimate intelligence for ultimate success etc. Many Corporate participated in the programme and the management students of various B-schools including TIMS were present.

Saransh Joshi (VIII Std) and Maitreyi Jain ( IX Std), both from St.Xavier’s High School, Adipur won the First and Second Price respectively from Level 1 and Shweta Kewlani (XI Std) of Adarsh Maha Vidhyalay and Harsiddhi Ruparel (XI std) of Mount Carmel High School, Gandhidham won the First and Second prize respectively from Level 2.All the four students got individual prizes and the school to which the first prize winner belonged in both the Levels was given a beautiful Running Trophy.

Vacation Workshop For Students

A 15 days program on Personality Development and Public Speaking was organized for students from 25th October to 10th November 2006. Mr. Suresh Lalwani –Lecturer from TIMS was the faculty for the program. The following topics were discussed for Public Speaking,

1. Initiating the Contact- Knowing your Audience
2. Voice Modulation
3. Using Body Language and Gestures
4. Preparation of Speech
5. Using Humour, Poetry & Quotations in your Speech

The following topics were discussed under Personality Development,

1. Know Yourself (Inner Personality)
2. Attitude (Inner Personality)
3. Leaving an Impression (Outer Personality)
4. Time Management: Managing Yourself
5. Etiquette in all walks of life

Summer Workshop for Students

A one month programme was organized from 24th April 2006 to 24th May for developing the overall personality of students. The following courses were included to do the same.

1) Public Speaking
2) Personality Development
3) Basic English & Mathematics

Spoken English class.

TiE has a vision of bringing in excellence to the whole society as such. So apart from students it also caters to the needs of other strata’s of the society. So looking to the demand and need for spoken English class in this region an open for all two months training program has been started from 3rd July 2006.. The program aims at improving and training the students on conversation, reading and writing, grammar, vocabulary and situational usage in English.

Workshop On Safety, Health And Environment.

Forward thinking organizations are engaging their senior leaders, improving organizational culture and involving their entire workforce in safety, health and environment effort. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (US Agency established in 1970) (OSHA) is established to develop and enforce regulations for the safety and health of workers in businesses that are engaged in interstate commerce. A ‘SHE’ department concept has risen up in companies and so to update the present workforce about such requirements have turned inevitable. Hence a workshop on Safety, Health and Environment was conducted at TIMS Auditorium on 27th August 2006.The main targets for this workshop were Shop Floor workers in companies, Students of Management and freshers working in Companies and Technical Field Students.53 participants from different industries participated in this workshop.

Mr. Deepak Shah, HR Manager – Aqua Gel and Dr. Leon Andrade-A Health Physician were the speakers for the workshop.

Issues of the workshop were as follows:

The mode of delivery was through Lecture, Discussions and Power Point Presentations.
