3rd Annual Meet

T.I.C celebrated its 3rd Annual Day cum Parents Meet on 21 January, 2008. Didi Anjana Hazari (President, Gandhidham Collegiate Board) was the chief guest of the function. Shri B.G. Hazari (Trustee, G.C.B.) Prof. H.K. Kripalani (Administrator, G.C.B.) and Dadi Krishna Bhambani blessed the occasion by their auspicious presence.

The function started with the lighting of the lamp .Welcome speech was given by Incharge Principal Ms. Archana Kella.. The anchors of the event were Kurmi Himanshu (T.Y.B.Com) and Vaneeta Priyani (F.Y.B.Com). Then various cultural programs were presented by the students. The winners of different competitions, held during the year were given certificates, prizes and mementos.

Makes Jack a Dull boy

Only reading makes a student bookworm. Extra activities make their all round development. Adhering to this proverb, every Saturday T.I.C organizes certain event to bloom their personalities. Talent Week was celebrated in which various cultural competitions were organized to bring out the hidden talents of students.

WORLD AIDS Awareness Day

A WORLD AIDS awareness day was observed on 1st December along with Black & White day. All students came in black and white dresses. Red batches symbolizing AIDS Day were put on their arms. Students made informative posters on AIDS Awareness. Sunita Nandwani of S.Y.B.Com delivered a speech on “AIDS Awareness”.

Guest Lecture by Mr. P.M. Thapa

An enlightening Guest Lecture was given by Mr. P. M. Thapa (Faculty, Tolani Commerce College) on “Import & Export” on 1st December 2007.

Mis-Match Day

If things are straight as rain, they become monotonous. So 'Mismatch Day' was organized on 8th December 2007. Students mismatched their whole attire & still looked Wonderful. First position was bagged by Aarti Sharma (T.Y.B.Com.) & Second position was bagged by Ami Patel (F.Y.B.Com.).

Mock Parliament Session

As elections fever was going on, so T.I.C. arranged a mock parliament session on 8th December 2007, in which students acted as ministers & delivered their manifesto. The most interesting part was clash between ruling & opposition party. One could feel as Lok-Shabha enclosed in T.I.C. Classroom.

Questionnaire

Tolani Institute of Commerce aims at all round development of child. Keeping this in mind a Questionnaire based on Personality Development was prepared by Mrs. Rinkoo Modiani and was filled by students on 12th December 2007, so that they can know and bring out their hidden talents.

Quiz Competition

A quiz competition was organized on 15th December 2007. Quiz masters were Sagardeep Butani (T.Y.B.Com.) and Aarti Sharma (T.Y.B.Com.). Questions ranged from all the subjects. The winners of the competition were Himanshu Kurmi (T.Y.B.Com.) and Kunal Bhatia (T.Y.B.Com.)

Group Day

On 22nd December 2007, Group Day was organized, in which, students formed their groups and dressed similarly. Then each group performed an activity like singing, dancing, mimicry etc. Even teachers formed their group and took part in it.

Elocution Competition

An Elocution Competition was organized on 29th December 2007, along with “Executive Day”. The topic was “Money & Knowledge”. This topic was kept so that students could ponder on the importance of knowledge. Eight students participated in the competition. The winner of the competition was Godawariya Hardik of F.Y.B.Com. This day was taken as a chance for students to appear in formal dress, dressed up as an Executive. Most of the girls andboys came in formal dresses i.e. Suit & Tie & looked as perfect Executives.

Traditional Day & Antakshri Competition

Traditional Day was organized on 5th January 2008. All the students came in Traditional dresses. Girls wore Sarrees and boys wore Sherwani. It was a mesmerizing sight to see all the students decked up in traditional outfits. On this occasion, an Antakshri Competition was also organized. There were 5 teams, faculty also participated in it. The Anchors for the show were Zubin Mehta and Saurabh Gupta. The winner of the Competition was Rinky and Group.

Study Tour

Gujarat Land of intricate geographical aspects has at one side Deep Ocean and at other side vast desert. A study tour was organized at Lakhpat on 9th January 2008. 56 students accompanied by staff members studied the beautiful Rann of Kachchh and historical fort.

Achievements beyond college campus

The seed of T.I.C has bloomed into flower and its fragrance is felt everywhere.

Mr. Kachchh Title

Mr. Saurabh Gupta of S.Y.B.Com won the title of Mr. Kutch organized by Sindhi Youth Circle, Gandhidham on 26th January 2008.

Essay Competition

Ms. Jinju Cherian of F.Y.B.Com won the 2nd Prize in an Essay Competition organized by Tolani Commerce College.

Ms. Aditi Joshi of F.Y.B.Com won the 2nd Prize in an Essay Competition organized by Sri Ramakrishna Seva Kendra, Adipur.

Debate Competition

Ms. Sunita Nandwani and Ms. Shailja Maheshwari won 3rd and 4th positions in a Debate competition organized by “Arya Samaj, Gandhidham”. They brought back the running shield to college premises for second time in a row.

Sports Achievements

For the first time, in the history of T.I.C., an Inter-College Chess Competition and Kachchh-University Weight Lifting Competition were hosted by T.I.C.

1. All the Faculty Members attended the workshop on 'The Revised Syllabus of F.Y.B.Com. organized by Tolani Commerce College.

2. Ms. Rinkoo Modiani and Ms. Alpa Dharmani participated in the Pre-international Seminar on teaching for Education for Sustainable Development organized by Tolani College of Arts & Science.

3. Ms. Rinkoo Modiani attended Second Year Arts Syllabus Workshop organized by Tolani College of Arts & Science.

4. Ms Archana Kella & Ms. Alpa Dharmani participated in International Seminar on Education for Sustainable Development organized by Dada Dukhayal B. Ed. College & AIAER.

5. Ms. Archana Kella presented a paper on “Restructuring and Reframing the Education System at Under Graduate Level for Sustainable Development” in the International Seminar on Education for Sustainable Development organized by Dada Dukhayal B. Ed. College & AIAER.

6. Ms. Alpa Dharamani jointly presented a paper on “Structure & Placing ESD in the Curriculum” in the International Seminar on Education for Sustainable Development organized by Dada Dukhayal B. Ed. College & AIAER.

7. Ms. Archana Kella attended one month Orientation Programme in Rajkot. Ms. Archana Kella also presented a paper on “Present Examination System must be changed” in the Orientation Program.

8. Ms. Archana Kella, Ms. Alpa Dharmani & Mr. Mukesh Tewani attended a workshop regarding NAAC organized by Tolani College of Arts & Science.

9. Mr. Mukesh A. Tewani, Librarian, has appeared in Bachelors in Library & Information Science Examination from Pondicherry University.
