World Aids Day
The slide show was arranged on the “World AIDS day' on 1.12.2007 jointly by the NSS department of the college & YMCA. Project officer Sh. Kushalbhai & his team members Ramjibhai, Ishwarbhai, Ms. Khushboo Mehta and other were present. The show was compered by Mrs.Shobhna Pandit, NSS Incharge, Mr.Kalpesh Sorathia managed the multimedia. Rekha Sharma informed the gathering about AIDS while Mr. Ramesh Deshmukh proposed a vote of thanks.
Education for sustainable development
An international conference on ESD was held for three days September 14-16, 2007 organized by Gandhidham Maitri Mandal and Dada Dukhayal College of Education.
13 teachers & 20 students from TASC took active part in the conference and presented papers and posters on ESD. On faculty front, an article on structure and placing “ESD in the Curriculum” by Dr. Sushil Dharmani, “Education for SD” by Mr. M.D. Dave, “Education for nutrition of the girl child & eradicate malnutrition for development of woman” by Dr. Shashikala Maheshwari & Mrs. Shobhna Pandit; “Role of Ethnobotony in ESD” by Dr. Kalpesh Sorathia, “ESD in school Curriculum & Community participation” by Ms. Devanshi GokulGandhi; “Educating India by educating Indian women” by Ms. Vimmi Sadarangani, “Deteriorating charm of pure science courses” by Dr. R.S.Thakker and Dr. Kiran Rawal; “Female foeticides” by Dr. Kiran Rawal, “Education in community by students” by Ms.Elsa Thomas; “Shaping human capital through education” by Mr. Manoj Chhaya, “Environmental education” by Dr. Arachana Upadhyaya were presented and published in the proceedings.
On students front, Bhavini Jeswani, Swati Nair, Bharti Karani, Khushboo Soni, Komal Chawda, Monisha Khanduri, K. Ram Kumar, Sandeep Nathani, Prashant Purohit, Devarshi Shukla, Jisha Sadasivan, Pooja Pathak, Neeta
Showkani, Riya Sharma, Tashi Sadh, Sunita Soman, Devinder Dhanoa, Preeti Sharma & Priyanka Jaiswal took part & penned various short articles on different aspects of ESD. Their abstracts were also carried out in the proceedings of the conference.
A team of Nisha Sorathia, Komal Chandnani & Sonali Gandhavi got 1st prize in Poster presentation on the subject, “Steps for conservations of National resources.”
Dr. Dharmani was the member of the 2nd panel discussion.
Pre-conference workshops were also organised in TASC, where in Prof. B.K. Passi conducted the workshop and nearly all teachers of TASC took part, on September 13, 2007.
Civil Defence
Police inspector Sh. H.P. Chawda (T.I) of Civil Defence, Gandhidham conducted classes on Civil Defence & First Aid, on November 28-30, 2007. Dr. Suresh Naik spoke on First Aid. The test was also conducted on December 1 and 6, 2007, on World Defence Day and Audio video presentation was made. Mr. Ramesh Luhana was the coordinator, who got helping hands from Dr. Sorathia & Dr. P. Chatterjee.
Teachers' Day
On the Teacher's day, Best message contest was organised by ICFAI. Jasvir Pal, the branch executive represented the institute. The main aim was to express feelings towards teachers. 40 students participated & wrote message on a board displaying their emotions towards their teachers.
Garba all the way
On the occasion of Navratri festival, Garba competition was organised on the college ground on October 11, 2007 where in students & teachers, in the traditional attire played Garba & whole heartedly expressed their devotion to Ambe Ma. The winners for various categories were given out the prizes.
Kishor Mosalpuriya & Dhara Sawla got 1st prize for best dressed persons, Honey Chauhan, Natwar Rana, Jaydeep Varoo, Dhara Sawla, Nayana Thakker, Bhoomika Patel were adjudged best players. Juzarsinh Sankhla & Kishor Mosalpuriya made the best pair, Best personality awards were begged by pair of Darshan Kotak & Dharti Prajapati. Shailesh Ahir & Janki Bhojak got Judges' personal best prize. Ms.Tulsi Sujan and Ms. Geeta Ganatra obliged as Judges.
Among teaching fraternity, Mrs. Sonal Vaishnav, Ms. Devanshi Gokulgandhi & Mrs. Namita Asthana were specially felicitated. Mr. Kaushal Chhaya arranged the orchestra. Dr. S.G. Dharmani & Mr. Sandeep Jani compered the show. GCB president Didi Anjana Hazari and Mr. L. H.Daryani, Principal TFGP were also present & enjoyed the show.
Pradyuman Sinh Jadeja, Ayush Bhardiya, Darshan Kotak, Bhavik Sorathia, Mukesh Sorathia, Dharmesh Joshi, Virag Dave, Jiten Goswami, Rajendra Jadeja, Jaideep Varu were the students organisers.
Gandhi - Strength of Youth
A lecture on “Challenges for youth in the 21st Century” was delivered by Dr. Sudarshan Iyenger VC, Gujarat Vidhyapeeth, was arranged in the Prabhu Darshan on August 31, 2007.
Dr. Iyenger quoted various life sketches of Mahatma Gandhi & described what transformed Mohan into a Mahatma. Referring to various TV programs & commercials, he strongly canvassed Gandhian philosophy among the youth of today. He also inspired students to wear 'Khadi'. Dr. Dharmani welcomed and Prof. H.K. Kripalani introduced the speaker, Mrs. Sonu Daryani compered the program & Mr. Ramesh Luhana proposed a vote of thanks. Shri B.G. Hazari felicitated Dr. Iyengar by a shawl.
Working woman : a better mother!
24 students of various colleges of Kutch took part in the Elocution Competition 'Kaka Tolani & Rupangi Rindani Smurti Vijay Padma 2007'. The topic of the competition was, “Working woman can turn out to be a better mother than a non-working one!”
In Kaka Tolani Shield Section, Harisiddhi Ruparel from TCC got 1st & Shweta Kewlani of TASC received 2nd Prize and Christi Astha of TCC stood 3rd. In Rupangi Rindani section, the three prizes were respectively won by Dipali Thakker of TASC, Srinivasan & Jay Akhani of TCC. Both of the shields, on the whole, were won by Tolani Commerce College. Father Joseph, Dr. Dipuba Dewda & Mr. V.R.Mehta served as Judges. Dr. Renu Hingorani introduced the judges. Mr. Manoj Chhaya & Mrs. Sonal Vaishnav compared the program. Ex-secretary of GCB Mr. Mohan Chandnani, besides Didi Anjana Hazari, Shri B.G. Hazari, Prof. H.K.Kripalani graced the ocassion.
Prohibition is to stay
An Elocution competition was held to mark the valedictory function of Prohibition week on October 8, 2007. The program was sponsored by Prohibition and Excise Department, Bhuj. The chief guest of the function was Mr. Banchhanidhi Pani, IAS, Asstt. Collector and SDM, Anjar. Mr. B. C. Purohit (Superintendent, Prohibition & Excise Department) occupied the chair of guest of Honours. So did Mr. C.D. Trivedi, an inspector, Prohibition & Excise Department) along with Principal Dr. S. G. Dharmani.
Eight students participated in the competition on “Illeffects of Intoxication.” Mr. Pani advised students to keep a bay from such antisocial abuses. He also requested students to follow Gandhian Principles of simple life, saying that intoxication is a silent disaster.
Madhu Sewani was awarded 1st Prize, Shobha Ashavar - 2nd, Shweta Kewlani 3rd while Drishti Patidar, Riddhi Chauhan, Sunita Jaru, Dipali Thakker, Komal Chandnani & Nitin Goswami also expressed their views. The prizes were given by Prohibition Department. Dr. Sushil Dharmani proposed a vote of thanks. Mrs. Sonal Vaishnav compered the program & Mr. Pankaj D. Udeshi offered his services as Judge.
Workshop and Seminar on NAAC
A one day workshop explaining the importance and procedure of obtaining NAAC certification sponsored by Kachchh University was organized. In this workshop the principals, coordinators & representatives of the various managements of 17 colleges out of 26 colleges of Kachchh were present.
Dr. Sushil Dharmani, through multimedia presentation, explained in detail the NAAC Process. He also gave details of new format of NAAC, which has come in force from April 2007.
Mrs. A.V. Bharthi of TCC explained about self study report (SSR). Dr. Rajesh Thakker, the coordinator, welcomed the guests. Dr. Kalpesh Sorathia provided technical support. Col. A.D. Sharma, Director, Baba Naharsingh College, Prof. Rathod of Lalan College, & Dr. Dipooba Devda, Principal of DDCE lent a helping hand. The Visitors went through various files prepared by TCAS for NAAC.
Further on October 12, 2007, a seminar for discussion over seven criteria of NAAC was organised. 40 conveners of colleges of Kutch attended the seminar.
Seven criteria were discussed at length by Mr. P. D. Udeshi, Mr. Ramesh Luhana, Dr. K.D. Sorathia, Ms. Vimmi Sadarangani, Mr. M.D. Dave, Mrs. Shobhna Pandit, and Mr. Manoj Chhaya.
Mr. Anil Gor, Registrar of Kachchh University, also blessed the occasion. He emphasized the importance of NAAC. Dr. S.G. Dharmani welcomed the guest and Dr. Rajesh Thakker proposed a vote of thanks, and organised the event.
Conferences and Seminar participation
• Dr. Sushil Dharmani and Dr Renu Hingorani attended a National Seminar on 'Contemporary Hindi Literature' on November 24-25, 2007 at Nalini Arvind and T V Patel Arts College, at Vallabh Vidyanagar. Dr. Dharmani presented his paper on 'Changing faces of Man and Woman in Post Independent Hindi Novels'. Dr. Renu's paper was on “Samkalin Sahitya Me Nari Ki Katha Vyatha”.
• Mr. M.D. Dave & Mr. Bharat H. Modhpatel participated in an International Sanskrit conference held at Amroli Surat, organised by Shambhavi Vidhyapith, Amroli & J.Z.Shah Arts & H.P.Desai Commerce College, Amroli, on December 20- 22, 2007. The main theme of the conference was 'The impact of Vedas on the world'. Mr. M.D. Dave earned a distinction of becoming a chair person for one of the sessions.
• M S University, Vadodara organized a UGC national seminar on 'Challenges of teaching in English' on 21-22 January 2008. Mrs. Sonu L Daryani HoD, English presented a paper on 'Teaching in Multilingual Classrooms' with special reference to teaching of English literature to students of vernacular medium.
• Dr. S.G. Dharmani attended an International Seminar at Jamshedpur Women's College at Jamshedpur from January 18-20, 2008 and presented a paper on “Indian Woman in the field of TV Journalism”. His paper was adjudged as the Best National Paper.
* Rakhi Parmar and Soniya Varyani of F.Y.B.A. alongwith Ms. Vimmi Sadarangani participated in a National Seminar held by Indian Institute of Sindhology on 'Krishin Khatwani : Life and Works' on January 13-14, 2008 at Adipur.
Youth Festival Full fire of enthusiasm
The Fourth Youth Festival of Kachchh Univesity was held on September 28-29, 2007 at The College of Education, Indra prastha (New Dudhai). A total of 26 events were held. TASC won in 9 events, standing at second position in the Kachchh.

(A) In the last week of September 2007, the Fourth Inter College Athletic meet of Kachchh University was organized by Mukta Jeevan Swami Bapa Mahila Arts & Commerce College, in which 175 boys & 75 girls of 19 colleges participated and played in 34 events organized.

Kranti Gatha Yatra:
On the Completion of 150 years of the Independence Movement of 1857, a rally was organised by Yuva BJP. It started off from Mandvi & reached TASC on October 5, 2007.
Mr. Jitubhai Vaghani, the main brigadier of the rally addressed on the occasion & took the note of contribution by the Son of Kachchh Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma.
Dr. S.G. Dharmani, gave warm welcome to the guests. Gandhidham Municipality President Mr. Himmatdan Gadhvi, Siddharth Gadhvi, Shailendrasinh Jadeja, Dr. B.F. Acharya, Dr. Nimaben Acharya and many other BJP workers, GCB president Didi Anjana Hazari and trustee Shri B.G. Hazari were present.
It is my day!
Students celebrated different days as usual. December 27, 2007 was marked as Bandhani day, followed by skirt & top for girls, Kurta Jeans for boys on December 28, 2007. On 29th, Girls enjoyed wearing sari & Boys attired in suit & tie. The group day fell on Monday, December 31st, while Traditional day was on January 2, 2008.
Senate members elected:
For the very first time, since the inception, of Kachchh University, the senate court has been formed. Mr. Ramesh Luhana, Dr. K.D. Sorathia, Mr. M.D.Dave & Mr. R.L. Deshmukh have been elected uncontested! Moreover Mr. Ramesh Luhana has become chairman for Board of Studies (Chemistry)
Ravi is BJP Sec :
Mr. Ravi R. Kripalani, Sr. Clerk, has been appointed as secretary for Gandhidham Adipur YUVA BJP wing for three years.
Mock Parliament :
A mock Parliament was organized by the History Department in order to impart the basic concept of the democratic system and functioning of parliament to the graduating students. 35 students participated and discussed various issues on Education, Railways, Foreign policy, Poverty, Corruption, Employment etc and a bill was also passed.
Darshan Kotak, Shweta Kewlani, Jiten Goswami, Dharmesh Joshi, Parth Sorathia, Dipali Thakker, Mohseen Khokhar, Jaydeep Varu, Bhavik Vaghmashi & Ritvij Dholkia played the role of Prime minister, Sonia Gandhi, Sh. Arjunsinh, Home Minister, Foreign Minister, The Speaker, Sh. Lalu Prasad Yadav, Sh. L.K.Adwani, Sh. V.K. Malhotra and Sh. Arun Jetley respectively.
Mrs. Sharmila Tejwani and Mrs. Harsha Dagiya under the guidance of Dr. S.G. Dharmani organised the program.
“Satmo Kotho” Presented at Ahmedabad :
In a drama competition, organized at Ahmedabad under the joint auspices of INT and Gujarat Samachar, TASC was the only college from Kachchh University that participated in the event.
Jignesh Gadhvi, Neha Makwana, Raj Jadeja, Rajendra Bambhaniya, Jaydeep Varu & Bhakti Oza took part in the drama and they staged One Act Play 'Satmo Kotho' written by Raghuvir Chaudhari. Mrs. Sonal Vaishnav, HoD, Gujarati, directed the drama & accompanied participants to Ahmedabad.
Vivekanandji remembered :
Under the auspices of Vivekanand Institute of Value Education and Culture (VIVEC), elocution competition held on January 12, 2008 to mark 145th Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand. Dharmesh Chauhan, Nitin Upadhyay, Ashok Bamniya expressed the thoughts of Swamiji. Dr. S.G. Dharmani advised students to follow values of Swamiji. Mr. Babubhai Kathia organised the program and expressed a vote of thanks.
On the same day in a competition held by TIMS, Sweta Kewlani, Dipali Thakker and Nisha Prajapati got the first three prizes respectively.

PG Classes : At your service :
Post graduate classes in M.Sc. in Chemistry have been started by Kachchh University at R R Lalan College of Arts & Science, Bhuj. Mr. Ramesh Luhana and Dr. Papia Chatterjee have started giving their services as visiting lecturers.
Elocution on HIV / AIDS :
International Youth Day was celebrated by YMCA, Gandhidham on August 25, 2007. The theme of the elocution was, “Effects of HIV/AIDS due to migration.” Ms.Rekha Sharma got the 1st prize trophy in the college level competition. Congrats!
English Language Lab Training Workshop:
* Mrs. Sonu L Daryani and Ms. Vimmi R Sadarangani were deputed by the college to attend a 10 days training workshop at H M Patel Institute of English Research, Vallabh Vidyanagar from August 16-25, 2007 in connection with the English Language Laboratory which has been set up in the Institute under the agies of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedekar Open University and sponsored by Commissioner, Higher Education, Gandhinagar.
Further, Mrs. Sonu L Daryani and Ms. Vimmi R Sadarangani were deputed by the college to attend a 5 days Seminar cum workshop for developing material for certificate course in communication skills, at Vallabh Vidyanagar in October 2007. Prof. Ray Macay of British Council was the resource faculty. The methodology of British Council has been successfully used in the production of various units which goes into the making of a text book.
Vimmi gets Award and Nomination:
Ms. Vimmi Sadarangani, HoD, Sindhi Dept, has received a National Award for her contribution in the field of Sindhi Education in India by Akhil Bharat Sindhi Boli ain Sahit Sabha, the oldest organization of Sindhi Language and Literature in India which has played its significant role to spread 'Sindhiyat' in India and abroad.
Moreover for the second consecutive term, Ms. Vimmi has been nominated as a member on National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language (Ministry of HRD, Govt of India) for three years.
Audition for Sindhi Tele films
Komal Chandnani, Lalit Nathani and Bharat Lalwani of SYBSc got a new experience when they got an opportunity to face the camera for an audition for Sindhi Telefilms for DD India.
