The Two-Day International Conference on “ Research in Management: Lessons for India”-a first of its kind in Kutch region was organized by Tolani Institute of Management at TIMS Campus on 10th & 11th December, 2011. The Conference was organized to promote and discriminate research in the field of management that contributes to the sharing of new, concepted, mythological and empirical knowledge. The conference received an overwhelming response and was attended by National and International guest and delegates in huge number. More than 80 session’s papers all over the world were received, after review and analysis by the expert academicians of different domains 64 papers got selected and published, with ISBN, in Pothi.com. There were four plenary sessions related to technical research papers and 43 papers were presented during these sessions. The papers were divided into 4 categories. 1. Finance 2. Marketing, 3. Human Resource, 4. General Management. The papers presented in the conference provided rich narrations and in-depth analysis of emerging real-life concepted and organizational issues from multiple presentations. The conference has given valuable insights to move onwards a new vision of holistic globalizations. The inaugural ceremony on 10th was presided over by Mrs. Anjana Hazari, President, GCB. The guests of honors – Prof. Bernardo Batiz-Lazo, Bangor University, UK and Dr. Aruna Suda, CEO, Saora Inc., Japan presented on their research papers on Cashless society and Japanese Management respectively. The chief guest Dr. Devendra Kodwani, The London Open University, UK delivered his thought provoked key-note address throwing light on the importance of research for academicians and scholar in today’s environment. He discussed the issues related to the focus and incentives for quality research outcome. After the welcome address by Mrs. Anjana Hazari, President, GCB, Prof. Ashutosh Bhambhani, Director-PGDM gave a brief about milestones achieved by TIMS in its journey of 16 yrs. Leading it to “A+” grade premier institute in the region. Prof. Laxman Daryani, Campus Director, GCB presented an overview of Tolani Vidya Mandir Campus living by moral and ethical values. Mr. L Murugappan, IFFCO (Platinum Sponsor of the conference) showered his best wishes and complimented TIMS for Organizing This Conference. Dr. Kinjal Ahir was master of ceremony and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sampada Kapse. On the first day, the plenary session of Financial Management was chaired by Prof. Bernardo Batiz-Lazo, UK & Dr. Sampada Kapse, TIMS. The issues discussed ranged from micro finance to venture capital. In the afternoon, the delegates and guests were taken to Rannotsav at Dhordo on the full moon day, which was indeed a wonderful thrilling experience. On the 2nd day, there parallel technical sessions were conducted. The Marketing sessions were chaired by Dr. Hemant Trivedi, MICA, Ahmedabad and Dr. Vinod Patel, S G University, Surat. The coverage of topics ranged from e-business to green awaking and flavoured with emotional intelligence. The Human Resource Management session chaired by Dr. A Kumar, Dr. J P Majumdar, Bhavnagar University. The spiritual aspects at workplace and the leadership with balancing work life of human aspects were the points of the session. The General Management session was chaired by Dr. S Chinnam Rrddy, Marwadi Group Foundation, Rajkot & Dr. Niraj Amarnani, Nirma University. The sessions had insights into varying socio-economic status of kutch to internationally renounced Dabbawalas. All the plenary sessions were anchored by TIMS’s students – Kavita Aiyer, Sachin Gokani, Mahek Poddar, Radhika Thacker, Pragati Agarwal & Fatima Khader supported by TIMS’s faculty. The Valedictory session on 11th was chaired by Mrs. Anjana Hazari, in the presence of all the dignitaries and guests. Prof. Miral Pandya presented an overview of the entire conference proceedings. The session chairs and the participants presented their opinion about the event where in they appreciated the efforts by the organizing committee, students, staff faculty of TIMS. Mr. Vidyut Buch, President, GCCI (Gold sponsor of the conference) praised the event emphasizing the importance of such conferences in this region. Out of the selected and presented papers, Prof. D S Rohini, University of Jayewardenepura, Srilanka won the best paper award in Marketing Management. Prof. Meenakshi Venkatesh (SIES College of Arts Science & Commerce, Mumbai.) won the best paper award in HR Management whereas Prof. Jyothi (Corrland College, Karnataka) grabbed the best paper awarded in General Management. Prof. Hitendra Lachhwai was the master of ceremony and the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. P S Ganguly. The conference was a team effort of TIMS’s family members-students, alumni, staff & faculty. The conference was attended by guests & dignitaries representing various organizations.
